Government Plans Imminent Relocation for Circuitville Residents

By Samuel Gillis

In a recent visit to communities along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, Minister of Public Affairs Kwame McCoy announced imminent relocation plans for some residents of Circuitville.

This initiative aims to provide better housing opportunities and improve living conditions for the affected residents.

Minister McCoy highlighted the necessity for relocation due to land occupancy issues. He assured the community that the government would facilitate a smooth and accommodating transition process.

This relocation effort is part of a broader collaboration between the Lands and Surveys Commission and the Ministry of Housing.

To support the relocation, three new housing schemes will be established along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, offering over 1,000 house lots.

Residents of Circuitville who are relocated will be given house lots in these new developments.

This expansion includes areas such as Hauraruni and other regions along the highway, aiming to provide more than the initially planned 800 houses.

Despite the availability of large portions of empty land around Circuitville, Minister McCoy pointed out that not all lands are suitable for housing expansion.

The government faces challenges in acquiring land, especially in Region 4, where many plots are privately owned.

In several instances, the government has had to purchase land from private owners to facilitate housing projects.

Minister McCoy reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring development and improving the quality of life for citizens across the country.

The government will continue to work towards providing adequate housing and addressing the needs of communities through collaborative efforts and strategic planning.
