In response to heavy rains causing flooding in Linden, a team led by Prime Minister Brigadier Mark Phillips and including Minister of Public Works Hon. Juan Edghill, along with engineers from the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority, conducted inspections to assess emergency relief efforts.
The team visited areas affected by Monday’s overnight rains and engaged with supervisors of the Pathway Program, responsible for community enhancement, to mobilize action.
Prime Minister Phillips emphasized the government’s commitment to providing necessary support and resources to facilitate effective relief work.
Meanwhile, Minister Edghill addressed supervisors of Pathway Community Enhancement groups, urging them to enhance the quality of work in their communities.
He highlighted the importance of addressing issues such as garbage accumulation, which exacerbates flooding incidents.
Thanks to emergency interventions by the government and the Regional Democratic Council, the floodwaters receded within 24 hours of their joint efforts.
The flooding was attributed to blocked culverts and garbage accumulation in certain areas.
The collaborative efforts of government officials and local authorities underscored a commitment to addressing the immediate needs of affected communities and implementing long-term solutions to mitigate future flooding incidents.
