In response to rising maintenance costs, the government has allocated an additional $600 million for road repairs across Guyana.

Public Works Minister Juan Edghill revealed that this supplementary budget is necessary to address the growing expenses associated with the country’s expanding road network.

To date, roughly 43.83% of the original road maintenance budget has been utilized.

The new funding will be directed towards purchasing asphalt, maintaining road shoulders, and repairing significant road sections, including the Palmyra to Moleson Creek route.

This financial boost aims to improve road infrastructure and enhance connectivity nationwide.
