Government-Funded Skill Training Empowers Buxton Residents

Forty-five individuals from Buxton and neighboring areas are set to enhance their skill sets through programs offered by the Board of Industrial Training (BIT).

Launched at the Buxton Practical Instruction Centre on Monday, the initiative encompasses training in various fields such as Information Technology, electrical installation, and commercial food preparation, among others.

Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton, emphasized that the program is entirely free of cost, underscoring the government’s commitment to providing training opportunities for Guyanese citizens.

Reflecting on the initiative, beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the opportunity it presents to augment their lives positively.

Odetta Small, one of the beneficiaries, highlighted her passion for cooking and the program’s free nature as key factors in her decision to enroll.

Similarly, Rumin Cadogan emphasized the importance of the free-of-cost aspect, echoing the sentiment that it’s a positive endeavor.

Ryan Haywood, another beneficiary, lauded the program’s benefits, emphasizing the professionalism of the trainers and the government’s commendable effort in offering such opportunities.

The Ministry of Labour’s Board for Industrial Training aims to continue making a significant impact on communities, promoting gender equality, and fostering life transformations through skill development initiatives.
