Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo has announced the government’s commitment to enhancing education through innovative approaches, including the potential introduction of an E-School system.
The government aims to tackle learning deficiencies and elevate the quality of education with initiatives such as teacher upskilling and the prospective implementation of an E-School platform.
During a recent press conference, Vice President Dr. Jagdeo outlined the vision for these educational reforms.
Dr. Jagdeo highlighted the potential benefits of an E-School model, suggesting that it could provide an alternative to traditional physical schooling.
He emphasized that students enrolled in an E-School should receive equivalent educational standards and opportunities for success compared to those attending physical schools.
In addition to exploring E-Schools, Dr. Jagdeo discussed plans to support private education.
He proposed redirecting current per-child expenditure towards parental choice, where families could receive funding directly to cover school fees.
This approach, according to Dr. Jagdeo, could foster competition and innovation within the private education sector.
The government’s initiatives underscore its commitment to modernizing Guyana’s education system to meet contemporary challenges and ensure equitable access to quality education across the country.
