Guyana’s senior Golden Jaguars men’s team is gearing up for participation in the inaugural FIFA Series Saudi Arabia A tournament, set to take place in Jeddah from March 21 to 26.

This new tournament offers an opportunity for 20 national football teams to compete during the international break.

In the series A segment of the tournament, the Golden Jaguars will face off against Cambodia (AFC) and Cape Verde (CAF).

Notably, ranking points will be at stake, providing an additional incentive for the participating teams.

Head coach Jamaal Shabazz expressed enthusiasm about the historic opportunity for Guyana to participate in the FIFA Series.

He emphasized the significance of this moment for the team and its potential impact on the development of local football talent.

Shabazz also highlighted the importance of the tournament in advancing the development of football in Guyana and expressed his plans for a one-week training camp to prepare the team for the competition.

President of the Guyana Football Federation, Wayne Forde, echoed Shabazz’s sentiments, expressing optimism about the national team’s performance and emphasizing the significance of their representation for the nation.

The FIFA Series is being hosted at four centralized locations, including Sri Lanka, Algeria, Azerbaijan, and Saudi Arabia, providing a platform for lower-ranked teams to compete and gain valuable experience on the international stage.

With high hopes and aspirations, Guyana’s senior Golden Jaguars are gearing up to showcase their talent and compete against international counterparts in the FIFA Series Saudi Arabia A tournament.
