In a commanding performance, Gold is Money emerged as the champions of the Bent Street “Champions of Champions” Futsal Tournament after a 4-1 victory over North Ruimveldt in the grand finale held at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
The match started with a bang as Jamal Pedro opened the scoring in the 5th minute for Gold is Money.
However, North Ruimveldt responded in the 16th minute with an equalizer from forward Antonio Allen.
The game was leveled at 1-1 going into the second half.
Gold is Money regained control in the 29th minute through William Europe, and further extended their lead with a goal from Shemar Koulen in the 35th minute.
Just a minute later, Andrew Murray sealed the victory with a fourth goal in the 36th minute, bringing an end to North Ruimveldt’s challenge.
Earlier in the evening, Northeast La Penitence secured third place with a 3-2 victory over Stabroek Ballers.
Gold is Money took home a cash prize of $1,000,000 along with the championship trophy, while North Ruimveldt earned $500,000 and the runner-up trophy.
Northeast La Penitence walked away with $300,000 for third place, and Stabroek Ballers received $200,000 for finishing in fourth.
