GMC to Support ‘Cut Rose’ Project for Increased Revenues and Impact on Single Mothers

The Guyana Marketing Corporation (GMC) is set to collaborate with the National Agriculture Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) on the “Cut Rose” project.

This initiative, spearheaded by Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha, aims to boost marketing efforts for cut roses, ultimately expanding the project.

Minister Mustapha emphasized the project’s substantial positive impact on individuals’ lives and highlighted its plans for nationwide replication, aiming to make a difference in communities.

Under the project, NAREI sells roses for $500, with the potential for resale at up to $2500. The initiative has gained significant traction in the local market, showcasing Guyana’s potential for diversifying crops.

The project’s success is anticipated to lead to a 30% reduction in rose imports by the year’s end.
