The impact of Global Youth Day isn’t only felt around the world but right here in our small communities across Guyana. Seventh-day Adventist youths marked the day by distributing food hampers, care packages and even offering free health checks.

This year’s observance was being guided by the theme “Communion in Action,” encouraging young people to move beyond simply recognizing the needs around them and take meaningful steps to serve others.

National Assistant AYM Coordinator with responsibility for Berbice, Kevin Hamilton told NCN: “We know that we are aware of what’s happening and what we must do as young people. But when it comes to action, we tend to don’t have the same enthusiasm. So this year, we’re moving from awareness to action and we’re getting practical about it,”

The initiative focused on meeting people where they are, as young people stepped outside of the church walls to make a tangible difference in everyday lives.

And while the activity comes to an end, the message of service and community is expected to live on.
