Coach Alicia Davis of the Georgetown Volleyball Academy is on a mission to increase awareness and participation in the sport among young people in Guyana.

In a recent interview, she highlighted the academy’s efforts and goals.

Established in 2022 with the support of Minister of Sport, Honorable Charles Ramson, the Georgetown Volleyball Academy aims to raise awareness of the sport and cultivate a larger pool of talented players in Guyana.

Davis emphasized the importance of increasing the number of athletes involved to enhance the country’s competitiveness and produce quality players.

Davis expressed satisfaction with the turnout and progress of the academy, noting that several players have already represented Guyana in international competitions.

She highlighted the academy’s success in producing athletes who have participated in events like the Inter-Guiana Games (IGG), with hopes of expanding Georgetown’s representation and impact on the national level.

The primary goal of the program is to develop young talent and expand the pool of volleyball players across Guyana.

Davis encouraged individuals interested in joining the program to visit the National Gymnasium for registration or contact the academy directly.

As the Georgetown Volleyball Academy continues its efforts to promote the sport and nurture young talent, Davis remains committed to creating opportunities for youth participation and advancement in volleyball.
