Georgetown Film Festival to Showcase Diverse Cinematic Talent

By Fabiana McKlmon

The Georgetown Film Festival is set to bring three evenings of rich cultural experiences and audiovisual artistry to the city.

Scheduled from August 21 to 23, the festival will take place each evening at 7 p.m. at The Theatre Guild.

This year’s festival will feature a variety of films from both regional and international sources, categorized under three distinct themes: ‘Breaking Traditions’ on the first night, ‘Kaleidoscope’ on the second, and ‘Inheritance’ on the third.

Rae Wiltshire, founder of the Georgetown Film Festival, emphasized the importance of providing a platform for authentic films that represent the region.

Wiltshire highlighted the festival’s role in offering a unique viewing experience for the Guyanese public, showcasing films that might otherwise be hard to access.

Wiltshire also underscored the significance of seeing familiar cultural elements on screen.

She noted that showcasing everyday experiences and cultural nuances can make a profound impact, helping audiences appreciate and identify with the content more deeply.

Tickets for the festival are available at Fresh Cafe, Prime Shipping, or can be purchased on the night of the event at The Theatre Guild.
