The Georgetown Film Festival concluded successfully after three nights of cinematic celebration from August 21 to 23, 2024.

The festival brought together film enthusiasts to enjoy a diverse lineup of local, regional, and international films. Held at the Herdmanston Lodge Hotel, the event overcame several logistical challenges, including a last-minute venue change, but still managed to deliver an inspiring experience for all attendees.

Rae Wiltshire, the founder of the Georgetown Film Festival, reflected on the success of the event, expressing gratitude for the strong community support.

He acknowledged that despite the festival’s challenges, the collaborative efforts of everyone involved helped make it a memorable experience.

Wiltshire also shared advice for aspiring filmmakers, encouraging them to start small, work with friends and family, and remain committed to their craft, emphasizing that persistence and hard work will yield results.

The Georgetown Film Festival not only highlighted the growing film industry in Guyana but also provided a platform for filmmakers to showcase their work and connect with fellow creatives.

Looking ahead, the festival is expected to return next year, continuing its mission to promote the art of filmmaking in Guyana.

The event has undoubtedly sparked renewed interest in the local film industry, with hopes that it will inspire more filmmakers to tell their stories through the medium of cinema.
