Georgetown produced a dominant display in the Demerara Cricket Board’s ‘Next Generation’ Under-15 50-over competition on Wednesday at the Fram Ground, overwhelming East Bank by a massive 433-run margin.

Georgetown posted a formidable 472-5 in their allotted 50 overs, with Khush Seegobin leading the charge with an outstanding 195.

The innings, which included 21 boundaries and six sixes off 129 balls, saw Seegobin fall just short of a double century when he was run out.

Makai Dowlin contributed 71, and Lomar Seecharran added 64 to bolster Georgetown’s total.

In reply, East Bank’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure, managing only 39 runs in 10.2 overs.

The East Bank batsmen struggled to cope with the pace of Afraz Khan, who claimed 5 wickets for 13 runs, and Prosper Jacobus, who took 4 wickets for 26 runs.

This comprehensive victory marked Georgetown’s second consecutive win in the tournament.

In another match at the Transport Ground, Select XI captain Shahid Ramzan led his team to a narrow three-wicket win over West Demerara.

Ramzan starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 14 runs with his off-spin, while Roscoe Anderson and Jasani Craig combined for five wickets to bowl West Demerara out for just 95 in 32.3 overs.

In their chase, Select XI struggled early but were steadied by Ramzan’s composed 45*, guiding them to a successful 96-run chase in 25.4 overs.

Craig’s crucial 10 runs in a 25-run partnership with Ramzan sealed the win.

Ramzan’s all-round performance earned him the Player-of-the-Match award.

The tournament serves as a selection platform for the Demerara team that will represent the region in the Guyana Cricket Board’s Under-15 tournament.
