The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce (GCCI) is set to launch an extensive training program targeted at its members, particularly small business owners, in the upcoming year.
Re-elected President of the Chamber, Kester Hutson, revealed to NCN News the Chamber’s intentions to equip its members with the necessary tools for growth, expansion, and potential collaborations with larger enterprises.
Hutson emphasized the significance of these training sessions, stating that they aim to enable small businesses to participate in profit-making ventures alongside larger corporations.
He expressed optimism that such collaborations could enhance the eligibility of small businesses for loans and garner support from commercial banks.
In an exclusive interview, Hutson highlighted the need for a shift in mindset and operational approach among small business owners.
He stressed the importance of refining business administration, financial management, and overall presentation to attract potential collaborators and secure funding.
Furthermore, Hutson outlined the operationalization of 14 committees within the GCCI, with recent additions including committees focusing on tourism and legal affairs.
These committees are poised to provide valuable information and resources to GCCI members, thereby contributing to the development of Guyana’s private sector.
Hutson emphasized the Chamber’s commitment to facilitating access to information for its members through collaborations with the government, diplomatic community, and international chambers via Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).
Businesses interested in joining the GCCI can access the application form through the Chamber’s website at www.gcci.gy.
