GDF and Slingerz Share Spoils in KFC Elite League Season 6 Round 1 Conclusion

In the latest showdown of the KFC Elite League, defending champions Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and the formidable challengers Slingerz FC faced off, resulting in a draw.

Despite both teams entering the match unbeaten in their previous eight outings, neither side could secure a victory, and the game ended in a goalless draw.

With their superior goal difference, GDF maintains their position as the top side in the league, boasting eight wins and one draw in nine matches.

Similarly, Slingerz FC retains their spot in second place, also with eight wins and one draw.

However, Slingerz FC will likely view the draw as a victory, considering their promotion to the league ahead of Season 6.

Both teams will have another opportunity to determine a clear winner when they face off again in Round 2 of the league.

In other league action, Santos FC claimed a surprise victory over last year’s league runners-up, Western Tigers, with a score of 3-2.

This win propels Santos FC to fourth place on the table with five wins, while Police FC holds third place with six wins.

Western Tigers, on the other hand, move into fifth place with four wins.

The match saw a thrilling exchange of goals, with Santos taking the lead early on through Randy Roberts, only for Randolph Wagner to equalize for Western Tigers.

Roberts later scored again for Santos, but Wagner responded with his second goal for Western Tigers.

In injury time, Stefan Reynolds secured the winning goal for Santos, sealing the 3-2 victory.

The league action continues with Western Tigers facing Den Amstel at the Guyana Football Federation National Training Center on Tuesday.
