By Travis Seymour

In the ongoing season 6 of the KFC Elite League at the Guyana Football Federation National Training Center ground in Providence, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) continues to assert its dominance.

Thus far, both GDF and Slingerz FC have maintained perfect records, establishing themselves as the teams to beat.

Throughout the season, no team has posed a significant challenge to the GDF.

In the latest matchup over the weekend, GDF secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Ann’s Grove United.

Despite facing a resilient defense from Ann’s Grove United in the first half, GDF’s top striker, Abumchi Benjamin, broke through in the 59th minute, leading his team to victory with two more goals in the 74th minute.

Amos Ramsey sealed the deal with a goal in the 87th minute.

Meanwhile, Slingerz FC showcased their strength with a dominant 3-0 win over Den Amstel FC in the opening contest of the night.

Marcus Wilson’s goal in the 22nd minute set the pace for Slingerz, with Curtez Kellman and Ricardo Halley adding to the scoreline in the second half.

With both GDF and Slingerz maintaining perfect records, GDF remains at the top of the table with seven wins, closely followed by Slingerz.

Other top teams in the league standings include Police FC, Western Tiger, and Santos.

Looking ahead, the league action continues on Tuesday, April 23rd, at the NTC.

Monedderlust will face off against Buxton United FC, followed by a tier 1 clash between Western Tigers and Fruta Conquerors.

The league’s intense competition promises more thrilling matchups as the season progresses, with GDF and Slingerz setting the standard for excellence on the field.
