Applications for financing from the Guyana Development Bank will be available online, as the government moves to make the process easier for small and first-time entrepreneurs.

Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh says offices will also be established across all ten administrative regions for persons who need face-to-face assistance.

A new online platform will allow applicants to submit their applications, track their progress and manage their loans once approved.

“We’ve also been doing a lot of work on developing a digital platform an online facility which is going to be very easy to use um and through that online facility persons are going to be able to go on access a very very simply access the facility um submit their applications follow and track the progress of their applications and um and then ultimately uh uh when approved be able to manage their uh their loan including you know tracking repayment obligations etc through the entire life cycle of their loan,” he said.
The platform is expected to simplify the application process, while persons who need assistance in person will also have access to the bank’s offices.

“It will also have a facility to allow persons to request an appointment if they would like to for one reason or another to have a face-to-face interaction with an office of the bank it does provide them with the option to request to book an appointment and once they book that an appointment they’d be given a slot and they’d be invited to visit one of the offices of the bank at one of a wide range of locations that we’re going to be setting up um across the length and breadth of the country across all 10 regions,” he explained.
The offices are expected to be established across all ten regions, giving entrepreneurs the option of booking an appointment for face-to-face assistance.

The Development Bank was officially launched on Monday, with financing targeting small businesses and entrepreneurs.
