– geared towards benefitting women entrepreneurs

The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry has commissioned its Micro & Women Entrepreneurship Learning Centre in the GCCI Building, Waterloo Street, Georgetown.

The centre is geared towards providing hands-on mentorship, training, and resources for micro and women-led businesses, small farmers, and young entrepreneurs, giving them the tools to grow and thrive.

President of the GCCI, Kathy Smith, says the initiative was launched a year ago to support the development of women in the agribusiness sector.

Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha commended the initiative, which he says is a beacon of opportunity for innovation and empowerment. Speaking at the initiative, Minister Mustapha says it coincides with the government’s plan to get more women involved in agriculture and agro businesses.

The Government of Canada is a key partner in this project through its Sustainable Agriculture in the Caribbean (SAC) initiative with World University Services Canada, which works alongside national stakeholders to increase the economic benefits of agriculture.
