The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has commenced its fourth annual Business Development Forum, a two-day event held at the Pegasus Suites.

The forum is designed to empower Guyanese businesses to seize opportunities within the expanding oil and gas supply chain.

This year’s event is being held under the theme “Developing Local Businesses for the Emerging Energy Sector” and aims to address critical areas such as financing, marketing, quality improvement, and overcoming challenges in the energy industry.

Senior Vice President of the GCCI and Chairperson of the Petroleum Committee, Kathy Smith, highlighted the importance of fostering a business environment that aligns with the demands of the energy sector.

The event underscores the Chamber’s commitment to advancing local enterprises and enhancing economic growth in Guyana.

Representing the Ministry of Natural Resources, Permanent Secretary Joslyn McKenzie emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to support local businesses.

He noted collaborative initiatives with stakeholders in the oil and gas sector, as well as international partners, to provide the necessary resources and infrastructure to strengthen local enterprises.

Throughout the forum, stakeholders will engage in discussions on various topics, including access to financing, improving business standards, and strategies to navigate the challenges of participating in the energy sector.

The event is expected to provide participants with actionable insights and tools to better position their businesses within Guyana’s rapidly growing energy landscape.
