Gavin Lewis emerged victorious in the GTA One Guyana Open 2023, culminating with a thrilling final against Phillip Squires at the National Racquet Centre over the weekend.
In a post-match interview with NCN Sport, the newly crowned champion, Gavin Lewis, shared some of the challenges he encountered during the tournament.
Nevertheless, he and veteran tennis ace, Phillip Squires, showcased their dominance by reaching the final.
The opening set saw Lewis in top form, securing a comfortable 6-1 victory.
The second set presented a tougher contest as Squires fought back to level the match, winning 7-5.
With the match tied at one set each, Lewis rose to the challenge and replicated his earlier performance, cruising to another 6-1 victory to claim the tournament title.
Due to bad light, the third set was interrupted and resumed on Monday, with Lewis leading 3-1 before ultimately clinching the victory.
For Gavin Lewis, this triumph marked his first title win since 2019.
