Gavin Lewis and Renola Jordon emerged victorious as the Guyana Tennis Association (GTA) Mixed Doubles champions following an impressive performance at the National Racquet Center on Woolford Avenue.
In a display of skill and teamwork, Lewis and Jordon dominated throughout the tournament, culminating in a commanding performance in the final against Kalyca Fraser and Ricky Romascindo.
They secured a decisive victory with a scoreline of 6-0, 6-2 in under an hour of play, showcasing their synchronized play and strategic prowess on the court.
President of the GTA, Cristy Campbell, expressed her satisfaction with the tournament’s progress and the level of competition witnessed.
She emphasized the association’s commitment to improving standards and announced plans for an upcoming under 18 tournament once the doubles competition concludes.
In another exciting match on the same day, Leyland Leacock and Phillip Squires clinched the Men’s 35 & Over Doubles crown by defeating Delon Fraser and Surendra Khayyam with a score of 6-2, 6-0.
Leacock and Squires maintained an undefeated record of 4-0 in round-robin play, further highlighting their dominance in their category.
The GTA continues to foster competitive opportunities across various age groups, aiming to enhance both recreational and competitive tennis in Guyana.
