In the recently concluded Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) Short Course National Championships, familiar names emerged victorious, showcasing their swimming prowess across various categories.
The Girls 13-14 Age Category saw Shareefah Lewis’s dominant performance, clinching gold in multiple events, including the 50-meter freestyle, 50 butterfly, 100 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 100 individual medley, and 50 backstroke.
In the Boys 18 and Over division, Olympic prospect Leon Seaton showcased his talent, securing victories in the 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle.
Among the standout performers was Michael Thompson in the Boys 11-12 Division, emerging as the most successful swimmer with wins in the 200 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 100m freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 200 freestyle, 50 butterfly, 50 breaststroke, 100 butterfly, and 200 individual medley.
Jeremy Sookram demonstrated notable skill and progress in the Boys 13-14 category, claiming victories in the 50-meter freestyle, 50 butterfly, 100 individual medley, 200 individual medley, and 200 freestyle.
Latisha Blair excelled in the Girls 18 and Over category, securing wins in the 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke, and 50 backstroke.
Ariel Rodrigues, a contender for Olympian Aleka Persaud, displayed prowess in the Girls 15-17 category, winning the 50-meter freestyle, 50 butterfly, 100 individual medley, 50 backstroke, and 100 freestyle.
Paul Mahaica asserted dominance in the Boys 15-17 category, claiming victories in the 50-meter freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 200 individual medley, 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly, 100 freestyle, and 50 breaststroke.
In the Girls 11-12 category, Jessica Sookram showcased her skills, securing wins in the 50-meter freestyle, 100 butterfly, 50 butterfly, 100 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 100 individual medley, and 200 freestyle.
Vladimir Woodroffe stood out in the Boys 15-17 category, securing wins in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and 200 freestyle.
Other notable winners included Aarav Singh, claiming victories in the boys 13-14 200 breaststroke and 100 freestyle, and Patrice Mahaica, who secured wins in the 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle.
The GASA Short Course National Championships provided a platform for these individuals to showcase their swimming talents, contributing to the overall success of the event.
