GABA Under-23 League Continues with Weekend Double-Header

By Tyriq Walters

The Guyana Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Under-23 League will continue this weekend, weather permitting, with an exciting double-header at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.

Kicking off the action, the Leonora D-Up Rising Stars will face the Stabroek Eagles.

Both teams are eager to secure their first win of the season.

The Rising Stars’ Captain, Shaquan Archer, emphasized the need for improvement following their last match, particularly in handling turnovers and boxing out.

“There is a lot of things we need to work on, the thing that kills us the most is the turnovers,” Archer stated.

The Stabroek Eagles are also looking to bounce back from their recent defeat. Captain Alafin Joseph expressed confidence in his team’s preparations.

“After coming off a two-game losing streak, my team and I are more motivated than ever. We’ve analyzed our mistakes, intensified our training, and worked on our strategies. We’re prepared, focused, and ready to prove ourselves,” Joseph said.

In the second game of the double-header, the Wortmanville Pacesetters will take on the Bartica Wranglers.

The Pacesetters are in search of their first victory in the league, while the Wranglers, known for their high-energy play and strong three-point shooting, are prepared to offer a formidable challenge.

The GABA U23 Club Championship is proudly sponsored by Wilson Plumbing Service and General Supplies and supported by the National Sports Commission through the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport.
