Media professionals gathered at Eve Leary Ground for a day of friendly competition at the Office of the Prime Minister-sponsored media games.

Breaking into teams like Purple Heart Posse and Bullet Wood, journalists participated in futsal, softball cricket, and novelty events like the lime and spoon race.

Led by journalist Jemima Holmes, Purple Heart Posse secured victories in both futsal and softball cricket.

The novelty segment brought laughter and spirited competition, with events like the three-legged tug of war and watermelon eating contest.

Emmerson Campbelle took the win in the 50-meter dash, while Bullet Wood claimed victory in the mixed 4x50m relay and tug of war.

Jemima Holmes and Godfrey Broomes were recognized as top female and male athletes, respectively, representing Purple Heart Posse.

Public Affairs Minister Kwame McCoy highlighted the event’s purpose of fostering camaraderie and unity within the media fraternity, promoting a sense of togetherness in the nation.

Organized by the Public Affairs Unit of the Office of the Prime Minister, the media games were part of the celebrations for World Press Freedom Day, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in Guyana.

The event was captured in a series of lively photographs showcasing the friendly competition and team spirit among media professionals.
