Food for the Poor Supports Residents of North Ruimveldt with Public Distribution Drive

In its ongoing commitment to assisting vulnerable communities, Food for the Poor (FFTP) organized a public distribution drive, benefiting the residents of Festival City, North Ruimveldt, and the surrounding areas of Georgetown.

During the distribution drive, over 800 hampers were provided to numerous families. The hampers consisted of essential items such as clothing, rice, flour, cereal, beans, multi-purpose cleaners, household items, detergents, and hand sanitizers, among others.

Jonelle DeViera, the Public Relations Manager for Food for the Poor, highlighted that this distribution drive is part of their regular efforts to support communities across the country. They have previously conducted similar initiatives in various other areas.

“Today, we have a public distribution at our complex at Festival City and we are for 800 families, the items that we are distributing are food items, clothing, and household items so this is a way to obviously give back to society and we continue to do that as our goal to alleviate poverty in Guyana,” she said.

Meanwhile, some of the beneficiaries shared their thoughts with NCN NEWS.

“I know to me self that it is help me a lot because if you get the stove to buy certain things you would have to spend a lot of money and this is help me a lot,” one said.

Another beneficiary added, “About the distribution and how it can assist me is because I’m not working right now, as I have this baby, she have a breathing problem and this is very good.”

More public distribution is expected to be made across the 10 administrative regions during the year.
