The Under 23 basketball competition, organized by Team 13 and Kevin “2 Feet” Joseph, concluded with an unexpected twist as Block 22 Flames defeated the previously unbeaten Victory Valley Royals 64-55 in the final.
Leron Joseph of the Flames was the standout performer, scoring 27 points and earning the MVP title for the tournament.
His teammate Jonathon Clark added 19 points, securing the championship trophy and replicas for the Flames.
For the Royals, Koby Tappin led with 14 points, while Rasheed Hinds contributed 10 points.
Rakim McDonald of the Royals was recognized as the tournament’s most disciplined player, and Jaffon Reynolds of the Flames was named the most improved player.
The Royals and Flames also received new uniforms from Nigel Hinds.
In the battle for third place, Retrieve Raiders narrowly defeated Amelia’s Ward Jets 63-56 to secure the third-place trophy.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the rematch scheduled for August 24, which will feature a playoff among the four semifinalists.
Game one will see the Flames take on the Raiders, while Game two will pit the Royals against the Jets.
The winners of these games will face off for the top prize.
