The first group of beneficiaries is expected to receive the $100,000 cash grant before the end of the week.

The announcement from President Dr. Irfaan Ali during Annual General Meeting of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“We are equally committed to provide relief to consumers because a strong consumer base if the foundation of our economy, as a matter of fact before the end of this week, the first batch of beneficiaries of the cash grant will receive it in their bank account,” he said.

Just over a week ago Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh announced that government will begin distributing the cash grant to eligible citizens through the banking system.

He said the first set of beneficiaries to receive the grant will be public servants, as the government rolls out the new payment mechanism.
