The first 200 landowners at the Stewartsville Housing Scheme (East) in Region Three are set to commence the construction of their homes following a successful lot identification exercise conducted by Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal.
This significant event marks a pivotal moment for the beneficiaries, many of whom have long awaited the opportunity to own land.
The allocation of lots provides them with a chance to transition from renting to homeownership.
Minister Croal confirmed that infrastructure development is actively underway in the initial phase of the housing scheme, ensuring that allottees will have access to their properties, roadways, and drainage systems.
He highlighted that the combined efforts for both Stewartsville East and West have resulted in over 2,100 land allocations.
Access to the housing area is facilitated via a concrete strip road in Leonora or through the newly constructed concrete bridge in Stewartsville.
The Ministry’s Survey Unit will continue the lot identification process as more lands become available.
Minister Croal indicated that two additional lots in the East area are anticipated to be ready within the next three weeks, while the remaining lot in Stewartsville West is projected for completion by the end of October.
