By Samuel Sukhnandan | January 13, 2025

As the PPP/C administration prepares to unveil the 2025 budget this Friday, financial analysts are anticipating key announcements related to fiscal measures, including income tax adjustments and sector-specific investments.

Joel Bhagwandin, a financial analyst who assisted the private sector with their budget proposals, shared his expectations for the upcoming fiscal report.

Bhagwandin emphasized the importance of continuing the major development initiatives that have been ongoing since 2020-2021, noting that these efforts are critical to furthering economic growth.

He also indicated that the focus of the 2025 budget could shift towards community development, in line with statements made by President Irfaan Ali and Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo.

Bhagwandin expects that the government’s financial blueprint will prioritize investments in local communities, stimulating economic activity and creating job opportunities, particularly in both coastal and hinterland areas.

The Ministry of Finance has already received budget submissions from various agencies and engaged in consultations with stakeholders, marking a thorough process in the lead-up to the presentation.

The budget is scheduled to be presented on Friday, January 17, 2025, and is expected to outline the government’s fiscal priorities for the year ahead.
