Father of Two Dies in Corentyne Accident

In Corentyne, Berbice, tragedy struck as a fatal accident claimed the life of 38-year-old Troy Trevor Elias, leaving behind a grieving family and community.

Troy Trevor Elias, a father of two from Lot 4 Cromarty Farm, Corentyne, was driving motor car # PGG 3721 with 34-year-old Mark Anderson as a passenger.

The accident occurred around 5:45 am on Sunday at Number 36 Village Public Road Corentyne.

Elias was reportedly driving south along the Eastern drive lane at a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle, colliding with a utility pole on the Eastern side of the road.

The vehicle overturned multiple times before coming to a stop.

While Elias tragically lost his life in the accident, Anderson miraculously escaped with minor injuries.

Both occupants were rescued from the vehicle, with Elias found unconscious and Anderson in a semi-conscious state.

Elias’s wife, Darshanie Persaud, recounted the devastating events, expressing the difficulty of coping with the loss.

She described how Elias had left to visit his cousin in Black Bush, and they received the news of the accident while returning home.

Persaud accompanied her husband to the hospital, where Elias was pronounced dead on arrival, while Anderson received treatment for his injuries.

Persaud revealed the extent of Elias’s injuries, including a broken foot and abdominal trauma, emphasizing the profound impact of the accident on their family.

Investigations into the accident are ongoing as authorities seek to understand the circumstances leading to the tragic loss of Troy Trevor Elias’s life.
