Farmers Market at Republic Avenue Eases Cost of Living in Linden

The Regional Agriculture Department culminated Agriculture month in Region 10 with a bustling farmer’s market along Republic Avenue.

The event aimed to alleviate the growing cost of living for consumers, provide support to local farmers, and help maintain controlled prices for products.

Hon. Kwame McCoy, Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister, emphasized the significance of the farmers’ market in supporting ordinary citizens.

Vendors at the market welcomed the initiative, expressing their appreciation for the opportunity it provided.

Janelle Pollydore, another vendor, commended the initiative.

The farmers market received support from various organizations, including the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI), the Guyana Marketing Corporation, Guyana School of Agriculture, Guyana Livestock Development Authority, and the Fisheries Department for the Ministry of Agriculture.

The event not only provided a platform for local farmers to showcase their products but also contributed to addressing economic concerns for both vendors and consumers.
