The Lyken family took matters into their own hands by removing a stall encumbering their place of business.
Despite notices of removal issued by the Linden Mayor and Town Council close to a year ago, the Mangar family continued vending on the property, prompting the Lykens to act.
The Lykens, who owned the building, had initially rented it to the Mangars through contractual agreements.
However, in December 2022, both parties decided to terminate the contract.
Despite multiple notices from the council and the dismantling of the Mangars’ operations, they set up a stall in front of the Lykens’ business.
One of the family members involved in removing the items is Kwesi Parks, the council’s chairman of market security.
Acting Town Clerk Lennox Gasper criticized this action, stating that proper channels should have been followed.
Gasper mentioned that both Parks and the Lyken family would be held liable for any damages caused.
Meanwhile, the Mangars expressed frustration over the situation, emphasizing the impact on their livelihood and the losses incurred.
