Eye Care Boost: 50 Baracara Residents Receive Spectacles

Fifty residents of Baracara, Region Six, have received free spectacles through the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s Difficult Circumstances Unit as part of the government’s Eye Testing and Spectacles Voucher Program.

The initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for residents by improving access to essential eye care services.

Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, sharing how the program has positively impacted their daily lives.

One recipient, Kamini Persaud, highlighted how her new spectacles have restored her ability to read clearly.

Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, emphasized the government’s dedication to improving healthcare and welfare for all citizens.

During her visit to several villages in Region Six, the Minister announced that a total of 250 individuals in the region have benefited from the spectacles program, with an investment of approximately $5 million.

Dr. Persaud reiterated the government’s commitment to providing initiatives that support healthcare, welfare, and overall well-being, particularly for vulnerable groups.

This program forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access to healthcare services across Guyana.
