ExxonMobil Guyana has filed an environmental authorization application for its eighth offshore oil development, the Longtail project.

This marks another significant milestone in the expansion of Guyana’s energy sector.

The Longtail project, which involves both oil and non-associated gas resources, is poised to be a major development.

ExxonMobil anticipates a production capacity of up to 250,000 barrels of oil per day, along with gas handling capabilities potentially exceeding 1 billion cubic feet per day.

This project is expected to contribute to the large-scale gas development in Guyana, complementing the country’s growing oil industry.

In addition to the Longtail project, ExxonMobil has also submitted the draft Environmental Impact Assessment for the Hammerhead Project, which is projected to produce between 130,000 and 180,000 barrels of oil per day.

The company is set to submit the Field Development Plan for Hammerhead in March.

ExxonMobil plans to hold public consultations regarding the Longtail project in the upcoming weeks, ensuring transparency as it moves forward with these developments.
