The stage is set for the semifinals of the ExxonMobil Schools Football Championship 2024, with only four teams remaining in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.
Originally scheduled for Saturday, the matches have been rescheduled to Monday, July 1st, and will be held at the Ministry of Education ground on CARFESTA Avenue.
In the girls’ category, defending champions Waramuri Top will face Bartica Secondary at 14:00 hours, followed by Santa Rosa Secondary against President’s College at 16:00 hours in the second semifinal.
In the boys’ division, former champions Chase Academy will kick off against Leonora Secondary at 15:00 hours, with South Ruimveldt taking on Dolphin Secondary at 17:00 hours to conclude the day’s play.
Organizer Troy Mendonca highlighted the tournament’s success in showcasing the prowess of teams from across Guyana, particularly noting the impressive performances from hinterland sides.
Expectations are high for Monday’s matches, which promise riveting competition leading up to the eagerly anticipated finals.
Weather permitting, the finals are scheduled for Saturday, July 6th, at the Ministry of Education ground, marking the culmination of an exciting journey in youth football development in Guyana.
