ExxonMobil Guyana rewarded the top teams and players in the recently concluded Linden Under 18 schools football competition.
The award ceremony, held at Shanghai’s residence, celebrated the achievements of the participants.
Christianburg Wismar Secondary School retained their title by defeating long-time rival Mackenzie High School in the ExxonMobil/New Era Inter-schools football tournament held in April.
They received items valued at four hundred thousand dollars, including cleats for each player, a water dispenser, and footballs.
Mackenzie High School, securing second place, requested gear worth two hundred thousand dollars.
ExxonMobil has supported the tournament coordinated by New Era since its inception in 2019.
Ryan Hoppie, Exxon’s Community Relations Advisor, emphasized the importance of community investment and youth development through sports, noting the positive impact on schools and communities.
Kwakwani Secondary, which won third place, requested windows worth one hundred thousand dollars for one of the school’s departments.
Linden Foundation, in fourth place, received gear valued at fifty thousand dollars.
This year, prizes included personal items for players. All participants received backpacks with stationery to support their academic pursuits.
The tournament’s MVP, Ferez Noble of CWSS, was awarded a cellular phone.
Kishaun Leacock of Kwakwani Secondary, who scored the most goals, received a laptop.
Romel Sinclair, recognized as the best goalkeeper, also received a prize.
CWSS captain Kimani Fields was given a special award by Hoppie for his leadership skills.
Coaches and teachers involved in the tournament were also given tokens of appreciation.
