The Mahaica Mahaicony Abary Agricultural Development Authority (MMA-ADA) recently received a significant boost with the addition of specialized equipment aimed at desilting canals and outfall channels.
This development is poised to positively impact the local community, especially farmers who depend on watercourses for agricultural activities.
Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, expressed his satisfaction with this enhancement, highlighting its potential to substantially improve productivity and efficiency within the MMA-ADA’s operations.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to continually invest in agricultural infrastructure, ensuring comprehensive development across various sectors.
“This piece of equipment will not only benefit one area but will contribute to the overall development of agriculture,” stated Minister Mustapha, underscoring the government’s dedication to supporting farmers, whom he described as the backbone of the agriculture sector.
Regional Vice Chairman, Rion Peters, conveyed gratitude on behalf of the local farming community for the investments made in agricultural machinery.
He recognized the significance of this addition to the MMA-ADA’s fleet, describing it as a substantial boost for the region’s agricultural endeavors.
The newly procured equipment, valued at approximately $110 million, signifies a concerted effort to modernize and strengthen agricultural infrastructure, ultimately facilitating increased productivity and sustainability in the sector.
