Evelyn Ramroop celebrated her 100th birthday on November 23, 2023, at her Palmyra home with close family and friends.
Born in Rose Hall Town on the Corentyne, Ramroop grew up in Port Mourant before moving to Palmyra, where she was involved in rice cultivation.
Her daughter, Dhanwattie Persaud, shared that her mother enjoys simple pleasures in life, such as meeting people, chatting, and engaging in religious activities.
Despite the challenges of losing her sight in recent years, Ramroop is cared for by her eldest daughter.
Ramroop, who got married at the age of 16, is the mother of six children, two of whom have passed away.
The family celebrated this remarkable milestone, expressing gratitude for having their beloved centenarian around.
