The green walk commenced at 6 am on Sunday, starting on Sea Wall Road in Kingston, Georgetown, and culminating in the National Park.

EPA Executive Director, Kemraj Parsram, underscored the significance of the green walk as a platform to raise awareness and inspire action on contemporary environmental issues.
He emphasized the need for collective initiatives to advance environmental conservation within Guyanese society, promoting a shift from eco-anxiety to conscious optimism.
United Nations Resident Coordinator in Guyana, Yeşim Oruç, commended Guyana’s commitment to conservation and environmental awareness through various initiatives and programs.
She highlighted the nation’s progress in addressing deforestation, citing the commencement of the national forest restoration initiative as a testament to Guyana’s dedication to environmental stewardship.
The green walk extended beyond Georgetown, with marches held in regions 2, 6, and 7, aiming to reach more citizens and generate greater awareness across the country.
Participants from region 4 were recognized during the event for their contributions, including the best t-shirt design, the best banner, and the group with the most members.
