General Secretary of the ruling PPP, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, has criticized the opposition APNU/AFC for its remarks on the recently concluded energy conference.
According to Dr. Jagdeo, the conference, although privately organized, has brought significant success, particularly for the local private sector, and has opened up opportunities for increased foreign investments.
Responding to criticisms from Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton, who labeled the conference as mere pageantry and grandstanding, Dr. Jagdeo emphasized the tangible outcomes and prospects generated by the event.
One of the key concerns raised by investors, noted Dr. Jagdeo, revolves around the potential impact of the situation with Venezuela on Guyana’s business climate.
However, he highlighted that most investors remain optimistic about Guyana’s prospects.
The four-day energy conference, themed “Fuelling Transformation and Modernization,” concluded successfully, with Dr. Jagdeo underscoring the positive momentum generated for Guyana’s energy sector.
