The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, through the Guyana Women’s Leadership Institute, is actively training and supporting more women.
In a recent initiative, 63 women were equipped to become entrepreneurs or enhance their skills through the Women Innovation and Investment Network (WIIN) culinary and garment construction courses.
The participants received sewing machines, gas stoves, and certificates for their successful completion of the courses.
The Women’s Innovation and Investment Network (WIIN) is a program designed to empower women and facilitate financial stability.
The distribution exercise, a collaborative effort between the ministry and UN Women, aimed to support women’s entrepreneurship and economic independence.
Graduates shared positive experiences from the program, emphasizing the value of the skills acquired and the opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to help women transition from dependency to independence.
This effort contributes to the broader goal of fostering women’s empowerment, skill development, and financial self-sufficiency in Guyana.
