More Persons Living With Disabilities are being empowered through skill training programmes offered by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security.

Among them is Grace Beverly Goodridge, who despite being in a wheelchair, is becoming an expert makeup artist.

Grace says she is learning more about the proper application techniques for foundations and other beauty products.

“Right now, I am learning the different types of make-up concerning your face the eye brow, the contour I enjoy doing it I learn a lot the different type of things to use on your face,”

She is also encouraging more persons living with disabilities to take advantage of the opportunity to improve their skills.  

Meanwhile, the ministry continues to expand its training programmes to include more skill sets, especially those in high demand, such as carpentry.

Minister Vindhya Persaud recently announced the start of carpentry training in region 10.

She says the training is open to both men and women, who are eager to develop trade skills.

“This is free training for males and females and has the UK and City Guilds certifications, I want to make sure that you get on board and you do this training, there will be many… more opportunities,” she said.

The five-day training began today August 21 at the Linden Technical Institute.
