In an era defined by rapid technological advancement, the graduation of 60 individuals from an Information Communication Technology (ICT) training program in Region 6 marks a significant milestone.
Organized by the Industry and Innovation Unit within the Office of the Prime Minister, this initiative underscores the increasing importance of ICT literacy in driving innovation and progress across various sectors.
The graduation ceremony took place at the Berbice High School in New Amsterdam, where participants were equipped with fundamental ICT skills essential for navigating the modern digital landscape.
Regional Chairman David Armogan emphasized the significance of computer literacy, particularly in fields like politics where rapid communication is vital.
He commended the efforts of the Office of the Prime Minister in extending ICT training initiatives throughout the region, recognizing the value it brings to individuals and communities.
Phillip Rose, one of the elder participants in the program, expressed gratitude for the knowledge gained, highlighting its transformative impact.
Encouraging others to seize similar opportunities, Rose emphasized the importance of embracing ICT education in today’s world, where technological proficiency is increasingly essential.
Looking ahead, the Industry and Innovation Unit aims to expand its reach, with plans to train over 1800 individuals nationwide this year alone.
In Region 6, where 157 individuals have already benefited from four ICT training sessions, this concerted effort reflects a commitment to empowering Guyanese citizens with the skills needed to thrive in the digital era.
By fostering personal growth and contributing to national development, these initiatives pave the way for a brighter, more technologically proficient future.
