Emergency road repair works are scheduled to start shortly for sections of eroded roads in West Watooka and the Noitgedacht back road in Linden.
The decision to initiate these repairs follows concerns raised by local residents about the deteriorating conditions of these crucial access routes.
Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, confirmed that a contractor has been engaged to address the issues on the collapsed road in West Watooka.
The emergency repairs are set to begin today.
The Noitgedacht back road, which serves as a major thoroughfare for heavy-duty trucks, will also see urgent repair work.
This road has suffered significant damage due to its heavy usage and recent flooding.
In addition to these urgent repairs, there will be sectional repairs on internal roads within the community that were affected by recent conditions.
The work aims to address the damage caused by both flooding and heavy-duty vehicle traffic.
Residents have expressed their gratitude for the swift response from the government.
Local resident Sharon Garraway noted her relief and comfort with the upcoming repairs, while Sherry Fiffee James highlighted the necessity of addressing the road issues.
Minister Edghill and a team of engineers have been inspecting various roads in the township to assess the ongoing work.
The repairs are being carried out by local contractors from Linden, reflecting a focused effort to improve infrastructure in the area.
