Emergency repair works have commenced on the Triumph/Mon Repos bridge along the Rupert Craig Highway.
The project is being undertaken by China Railway First Group, Inc., with a five-day timeframe for completion.
The repairs started last night and were inspected today by Public Works Minister Juan Edghill.
The repair works are focused on the southern lane of the carriageway and are expected to cause traffic disruptions over the coming days.
Minister Edghill highlighted the increasing movement and deterioration of bridges along the East Coast Corridor, which prompted swift action on this bridge to prevent further damage.
In addition to monitoring the ongoing repairs, the Ministry of Public Works has issued a traffic advisory to inform the public of expected delays.
The ministry is also collaborating with the original contractor involved in the bridge’s construction to ensure a thorough understanding of the issues that led to its current state.
