Guyanese boxer Elton Dharry showcased his skills over the weekend, securing a dominant knockout win in the feature bout of the pro-am boxing event held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Dharry, who now resides in the United States, faced young Colombian fighter Randy Ramirez in a super flyweight clash.

The 39-year-old fighter, known for his experience and composure, started cautiously, testing Ramirez in the opening round.

However, during that round, Dharry was briefly stunned by a left hook to the side of his head, but he quickly regained his focus.

In the second round, Dharry shifted gears, landing several heavy blows to Ramirez’s body before delivering a quick right uppercut to Ramirez’s stomach, causing the first knockdown of the fight.

Dharry continued to press the attack, landing a series of powerful punches to both the body and head of Ramirez, eventually overwhelming him to secure the knockout victory.

Reflecting on his performance, Dharry credited his mental toughness as a key factor in his win, noting that despite the early setback, he remained focused on the task at hand.

Looking ahead, Dharry is preparing for a championship bout in 2025, where he will face South African Ricardo Malajika for the IBO super flyweight title.

Dharry promised to make the fight happen in Guyana, with a targeted date of May 3rd, 2025.

With his sights set on the title, Dharry’s performance this weekend further solidified his reputation as one of Guyana’s top boxing talents.
