Electricity Poles Relocated for New Wismar Mackenzie Bridge Construction

LECI undertakes the relocation of electricity poles to facilitate phase one of the new Wismar Mackenzie bridge construction.

In preparation for the construction of the new Wismar Mackenzie bridge, significant infrastructure adjustments are underway.

The new bridge, slated to be constructed on the southern side of the existing structure, necessitates the relocation of poles and electrical lines in the area.

According to Terrence James, an electrical engineer at LECI (Linden Electricity Company Inc.), this relocation initiative commenced in June and is expected to conclude by the end of July.

James emphasized that besides accommodating the bridge construction, the pole relocation also aims to create space for a temporary road.

LECI advises caution to road users navigating the area during this transitional phase.

As part of the relocation process, residents may experience disruptions in electricity services.

James assured that efforts are being made to minimize downtime during the transfer of transmission lines.

However, planned power outages of approximately eight hours may occur, with affected residents being notified in advance through radio and television announcements.

Meanwhile, preparations by China Railway Construction, tasked with building the $US35 million bridge, are progressing as they establish their operational base in Mackenzie.

Physical construction of the bridge is set to commence in August as scheduled.

The relocation of electricity poles marks a critical step in the infrastructural development aimed at enhancing connectivity and accessibility in the region.
