Today, the Islamic community celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Eid-ul-Fitr, meaning ‘festival of breaking the fast’, is a cherished celebration in Islam that follows the month-long fasting period of Ramadan.
It is considered one of the most prestigious festivals in the Islamic calendar.
Director of the Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG), Shaikh Moeen ul-Hack, addressed the gathering, reflecting on the significance of Ramadan and the lessons learned during the month of fasting.
“We celebrate this Eid with optimism that our prayers and charity are accepted by Allah,” said Shaikh Moeen ul-Hack, emphasizing the importance of faith and gratitude in the observance of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Muslims gathered at the MYO ground early this morning to offer prayers and partake in communal celebrations.
Shaikh Moeen ul-Hack reiterated the importance of contentment and generosity, emphasizing the lessons of Ramadan in fostering compassion and awareness of others’ needs.
The holy month of Ramadan, which began on March 11, concluded with the joyful celebrations of Eid-ul-Fitr, symbolizing the end of fasting and a time for renewed spiritual growth and gratitude within the Muslim community.
As Muslims across Guyana and around the world come together to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, the spirit of unity, generosity, and compassion resonates, enriching communities and fostering bonds of friendship and solidarity.
