Education Month 2024 was officially launched in Region 10 on Thursday, marked by a church service and prayer session at the Republic Avenue education building.
The month-long celebration, themed “Investing in Education, Bridging the Gaps, Creating Opportunities,” will feature a diverse array of events aimed at enhancing educational experiences and opportunities across the region.
Acting Regional Education Officer LaShanna Anderson delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the theme’s focus on improving educational equity and accessibility.
Anderson highlighted the department’s commitment to ensuring that every school has the resources and support necessary for student growth and success.
The launch event included performances by local choirs, a sermon, and prayers led by community religious leaders.
In addition to the ceremonial aspects, Education Officer Selwyn Griffith outlined the planned activities for the month.
These include a nursery quiz, the JOF Haynes debating competition, a mathematics extravaganza, and storytelling and puppetry competitions.
With twenty-seven activities scheduled throughout the month, the celebration aims to engage educators, students, and community members in meaningful ways, furthering the goal of bridging educational gaps and creating opportunities for all learners in the region.
