Education minister hails improved CSEC And CAPE results

Today was a big day in the education sector with outstanding performances by Guyanese students at the CXC, CSEC and CAPE. Education Minister Sonia Parag has welcomed improvements in Guyana’s 2026 CSEC and CAPE pass rates, describing the results as a major achievement for students across the country.

For instance, Guyana’s CSEC Mathematics pass rate increased from 32 per cent in 2025 to 34.5 per cent in 2026, with several schools recording major improvements.

“I am extremely pleased that we have recorded improvement pass rates at both CSEC and CAPE this year this is an achievement worthy of recognition and I believe the entire class of 2026,” she said.

Among the top performers this year are Nitya Narine with 26 grade ones and one grade two, a first for Tagore High School in Berbice.

In addition, Anushka Singh of Queens college, Georgetown achieved outstanding results with 25 grade ones and one grade two.

And across in Essequibo, Shreya Ramnarine secured 22 grade ones, six grade twos and one grade three.

More than 13,000 Guyanese candidates were able to access their results through the CXC student portal from noon on August 18.
